WHY CHOOSE FUNCTIONAL PATTERNS?
If you have pain or imbalances in your body, we’ll most likely be able to see it in your posture and even more certainly in the way you move. When we aren’t able to move correctly, our body adapts. These adaptations to dysfunctional movement cause pain, muscle imbalances and malformations. Because of this fact, we know that dysfunctional movement is the root cause of most of our problems.
The most fundamental movement for any human is walking and running, evolutionarily it is what we are designed for.
Knowing this, we use slow-motion gait analysis to break down your walking pattern in detail. Then, by comparing your movement to that of elite sprinters, we can pinpoint areas of dysfunction—for example, limited rotation to one side or a hip drop caused by poor core engagement, etc.
Once we identify the imbalances in how you walk and stand, we design exercises custom to your dysfunctions to correct them. These movements don’t just build functional muscle—they improve your balance, hydrate your connective tissue, and bring your body back into better alignment with gravity.
The result? Enhanced coordination, improved posture, relief from pain and discomfort and a body that moves the way it was designed to.
STANDING, WALKING, RUNNING, & THROWING
The four key functions that define us as humans—our biological blueprint. Optimize these, and you’re not just improving your health, you’re unlocking your full potential. Master them, and watch your life change.
WHY DOES STANDING, WALKING, RUNNING & THROWING MATTER?
Functional Patterns methodology has helped thousands of people relieve pain, improve athletic performance, reduce symptoms of anxiety, scoliosis, hyperthyroidism, ADHD, joint dysfunction, degenerative disc and many more ailments and illnesses by optimizing these four movements.
We’ve found that optimizing standing, walking, running & throwing leads to improving almost every facet of health.

OUR PROCESS
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a self-massage technique. MFR tools are inexpensive and accessible: a lacrosse ball, soft ball, medicine ball, and PVC pipe. MFR techniques help alleviate tension and tightness, leaving your body more mobile and prepared for transformative corrective exercises.
CORRECTIVE EXERCISES
Corrective exercises re-tension your body to fundamentally change your movement and structure. These detailed exercises are designed to ensure regeneration of your body’s structure and movement, by respecting the unique blueprint of human locomotion.
DYNAMIC MOVEMENT
Dynamic exercises center around re-organizing newly found muscular connections developed through corrective exercises. After building the right muscular support and coordination you'll learn how to move dynamically, transferring your movement capabilities to real-world activities and hobbies.
